Long Crendon Club

Long Crendon is a village steeped in history, and many of the buildings there date back to the 12th century. There is a very old church cemetery in the village, and we decided to spend an hour prior to the investigation visiting the, picturesque graveyard.

The cemetery is located just a few minutes away from the Long Crendon Club, and we took some kit with us to record any potential activity.

Investigator Rob Powell was the first to enter through the old iron gate, and as he did so he witnessed a massive spike on the K2 Meter he was holding. It was almost as if something was there greeting us or guarding the entrance to this sacred ground.

The cemetery was very cold and it did have an eerie feel to it. There was a sense among the whole team that we should not have been there, but we ventured along the path and took some photographs of the ancient headstones, and its surrounding grounds.

Investigator Phil Measey seemed a little quiet and disturbed by something, and his emotions looked high. I asked him if everything was alright, and he replied that he has family and friends buried in this cemetery. We were all unaware of this and felt compelled to accompany him to the grave of his best friend and pay our respects.

The cemetery was very quiet, and a chill filled the air. We walked through the grounds and headed towards the gates, when Phil experienced a spike on his K2 device. It lasted only a few seconds, and as we all passed the area the team witnessed their K2 meters also spike as if we had walked through an energy field.

At the gates of the church yard, Phil, and Rob both had massive readings for a few short seconds on their EMF detectors, and we all agreed that it felt like we were being shown the way out by someone unseen.

It was now around 9.00 pm, and we all headed back down through the village towards the Long Crendon Club.

The club was still alive with its many guests, and we could not begin our technical set up until it was closed for business. We entered the building through the front doors and moved into the Bingo Hall, where Matt, Toni, and I immediately felt an energy overcome us and greet our arrival. This presence felt comfortable and I did receive a psychic impression of a male figure around 36 or 37 years of age. Having kept this to myself, I was surprised that Matt Watkins also felt the same energy and indicated to me that it was male, and he was in his mid 30's.

As the Bingo Hall was so large and central to the club, I decided to use this room as our technical headquarters for the night. We could easily monitor the whole building from here, and our cameras would be stationed in the four other locations surrounding this room.

The evening soon passed us by and by 11.00pm the busy club had subsided and only a handful of guests and committee members remained. Phil Measey had previously agreed with Kathie (his sister and manger of the club), to give a brief presentation to the club's members about ghost hunting and our investigation technique. This had been advertised by the club on its notice board, but we were unaware that guests were invited to stay and join us throughout the night.

This talk seemed to go well, and we gathered a lot of interest in what we planned to do that evening. Several members of the club and its committee decided to stay and join us on the investigation. Unfortunately this factor caused several problems during the first half of the evening, and contributed to the loss of evidence and control over the entire investigation.

Rob Powell, Toni Seale, and Nikki Evans walked around the building, taking base readings using a non contact laser thermometer, K2 meter, and recorded their results as follows:

The K2 Meter has a range between 1mg to 20+mg. The range from the meter to the active field is 0 to 6 feet.

***Any readings above 10mg may be non paranormal. There are many things that can throw off EMF readings, such as speakers, electrical wires, television sets, computers, appliances, electrical outlets, romex cable, power lines etc.

At around 12.30 am myself and Phil Measey entered the John Butler Bar, which was not in use and was located adjacent to the Bingo Hall. We felt extremely cold, and we conducted further base readings here. The temperature of the room was 14C compared to the Bingo Hall which varied between 20C and 21C. Although the door to the Bar was left open for most of the night, the air temperature never increased and the room remained cold.

Phil and I placed some trigger objects on the bar. These were four red dice. We hoped that maybe when the room was not in use the dice would be moved and leave a visible track in some talcom powder which we later added.

We also put the K2 Meter on the bar and decided to conduct a very quick test in this room using a voice recorder. We asked if the spirit of John Butler was present in the room, and the K2 meter responded by flashing to amber and red. As we were recording this event using just the digital voice recorder, and had not yet started recording with our DVR infra-red cameras. We were both amazed and continued with the EVP experiment while the opportunity had presented itself.

The results from this EVP, prompted us to conduct further tests in this area, but apart from other abnormally high K2 meter readings, we obtained nothing further.

I split the team up into small groups and we located ourselves in the 3 main areas. This included the bar room, pool table area, and cellar. Previous activity had been reported by staff and guests at these locations and we felt it necessary to try and debunk some of their experiences.

It had been reported that the ghost of a little boy had been seen by more than one person by the corner pocket of the pool table. If this really was the case, we attempted to communicate with the spirit using a K2 meter, and a voice recorder. We also placed a DVR camera on the pool table and used a trigger object in the form of a toy train to attempt to capture any movement or provoke a response.

The activity around the pool table was short lived, and we moved our attention to the cellar area where Phil Measey, Rob Powell, and Kathie attempted to communicate with whatever was said to be haunting this area of the building.
