Kelvedon Secret Nuclear Bunker - Ghosthunt

The bunker itself is located 38m (100 feet) below ground, at the end of a tunnel underneath a very average looking bungalow.

It was used up until 1992 as a regional government headquarters, in the event of nuclear attack the Regional Government Headquarters would be tasked with the job of organising the survival of the population and in addition to this, the continuation of government operations. In 1992 the property was sold back to the family who previously owned it prior to loosing it in the 1950s.

The bunker was built to hold up to 600 people; both military and civilian. The size of the bunker is huge, every single thing necessary to survive a potential nuclear attack has been incorporated into the structure in some form. It even has its own BBC studio that was capable of broadcasting to the entire nation if necessary.

Although there are reports of only one recorded death at this location, it’s worth noting that haunted locations often experience paranormal activity in some form when the building or area has housed strong emotions or activities in the past.

During the time in which this bunker was in use, the threat of nuclear war was high, (up until 1992 the government were paying £3m a year to keep the bunker operational and on standby). it is therefore no surprise that very thorough and serious practice drills were often carried within the bunker, and who knows what other secrets the bunker holds deep underground.

The location has been investigated hundreds of times by paranormal teams worldwide, and it seems that paranormal activity is rife amongst the lifeless mannequins, and abandoned sick wards.

Over the years there have been ghost’s sighted and paranormal activity reported in the building including light anomalies, strange presences, negative atmospheres, disembodied voices, shadow figures, and objects reportedly moving by themselves. Could all this be the work of an alleged workman who fell into a vast wall of concrete poured out during the construction of the bunker? His body apparently has never been found.

Does he still walk the abandoned corridors?

Several years ago a man paid money to spend 3 weeks on his own in the bunker. He lasted just 3 days! - Are you brave enough to last the night?
